PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
Lots of activity has gone on since our last newsletter. In December (See hard copy at club) presented a marksmanship and fundamentals course for which he received many positive comments as to the value of the presentation. In February (See hard copy at club)tt ran the Club Championship matches and you can see the results on the bulletin board. We had a great turnout for the Spaghetti Dinner (guided by gourmet chefs (See hard copy at club) where we presented certificates to Club Champions and Top Guns. In March we had a successful International Match put on by (See hard copy at club). In April we hosted the annual State Match under (See hard copy at club) leadership and (See hard copy at club) organization of volunteers. All these events required many hands of help and fortunately we were able to get the help we needed. We still have many projects needing your volunteer time so please make an effort to sign up for some necessary work projects.
Our recent Grant of $3500.00 from the Friends of NRA for the Venturing Program (formally known as Explorers) should provide for the purchase of excellent equipment and in turn draw more members. Contact (See hard copy at club) if you know of any young shooters 14 and older who may want to join the junior program.
We're getting more concerned about the amount of back splatter that's happened lately. (See hard copy at club) have done a great job mining the lead twice but we still have a problem. (See hard copy at club) checking with the Oneida Club for some info on a special blanket they use to control the backsplatter.
Bob Poupard will be installing a new experimental track system for target retrieval to see if it solves some of our present problems- swinging targets for one!!
I've received some info from members of a Syracuse Club about a more detailed instructional course than (See hard copy at club) gave put on by the Army Marksmanship Program.
I'm investigating the possibility of them coming to our Club for a shooting clinic. I'll be sending out an e-mail with more info.
Thanks to (See hard copy at club) for our beautiful new trophy case. (See hard copy at club) did lots or organizing with a new can for casings and boxes for targets and misc. trash. He also updated lots of our signs and made new ones where needed.
Thank you everyone for all your efforts. I've enjoyed being President and learned a lot, but I will not be running for office again. Thanks to everyone for your co-operation. Remember,
Volunteer for a job today!!!! (See hard copy at club)

SPORTERIFLE:
Our team of sporterifle shooters had a lot of fun this past season, which unfortunately did not produce as many wins as they deserved. Everyone has vowed to do better next season and have more fun. One shining note was that (See hard copy at club)won 1st Senior in the Ten X league. Come out and join the Team next September, its fun and all shooting is done at our range on Monday nights.
INTERNATIONAL SECTIONALS:

NYS PISTOL CHAMPIONSHIPS:
A big THANK YOU to (See hard copy at club) for all the planning and effort to conduct another successful State Match at the Club. Thirty-nine shooters, the most since 1995, competed in the three-gun match and twenty-seven shooters won one or more class and caliber cash awards. (See hard copy at club), who attended (See hard copy at club) Marksmanship course, showed that he learned some good fundamentals by winning the Marksman Class Aggregate and almost beating the Sharpshooter Class winner. (See hard copy at club) was also 1st .22 Marksman, 2nd Marksman CF and 2nd in the Sharpshooter/Marksman Class .45. Nice shooting (See hard copy at club).. From the Marathon Team, (See hard copy at club) was 4th Expert .22, 4th Expert CF, 3rd Expert .45 and 3rd Expert Aggregate. Nice shooting Bob.
Many members and their wives helped make the State Match a successful and popular event. They are: (See hard copy at club).
VENTURERS- JUNIOR PROGRAM:
Our Junior Program has completed another successful and safe year of shooting. The juniors have all advanced in skill with five more new Distinguished Experts in NRA Light Rifle qualification. Three-position rifle is popular with some of the boys and we have entered a New York State Junior postal league to test our skills against other junior shooters from around the state. Some of the juniors are also practicing for the Empire State Games and will start to shoot 50-yard courses outdoors thanks to the Broome County Sportsmen's Association willingness to allow our junior to use their facilities.
Many thanks to those who have helped support the juniors-(See hard copy at club). Last, but not least, thanks to the NRA Foundation through our local Friends Of NRA organization for their generous funding grants.
